INFORMATION

The Ohio Water Development Authority created the Un-Sewered Area Assistance Program to provide grants for construction of a publicly owned sewer system for un-sewered areas that have failing onsite sanitary treatment systems.

.    Please note, projects must be constructed using State of Ohio Prevailing Wage rates.  Extension of an existing sewer system is not eligible for this program.     


APPLICATION DEADLINE:

At least two months prior to application submission, please contact our Loan Officer, Kim Killian (email), to determine eligibility for the Un-Sewered Area Assistance Program.  

The OWDA Board meets the last Thursday of the month during January to October; and the second Thursday in the month of December.  OWDA Un-Sewered Area Assistance Program grant applications are due the 1st of the month that the grant will be approved.    For December approval, the grant application is due on November 1st.  The project must be bid prior to applying for the grant.

UN-SEWERED AREA ASSISTANCE PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATION DOCUMENTS:

The following grant application documents must be completed and submitted as individual pdfs in order to provide a complete application.  Click on documents in blue to download.  
  • Grant application
  • Rate ordinance (current rates/tap-in fees)
  • Construction bid tabs 
  • Engineering agreement (if engineering costs are included in the construction grant request)
  • Findings and Orders, consent order, health risk documentation for failing onsite systems
  • Map of area to be sewered.  If connecting to an existing system, the map should show the un-sewered area and the connection point to the existing system.  If building a new system, the map should show the distance of existing systems to illustrate that it is not feasible to connect.
